Story One:

I’ve got this friend Catherine, who is the ultimate queen of bluntness. She’ll show you straight-forwardness like you’ve never seen before. Well, once we went to kbox and we both ordered ice lemon tea. When the tea came, she took a sip out of it and spat it out, obviously disgusted. Turns out there was either too little or no sugar added into it. She immediately demanded that the waitress bring us both new glasses of ice lemon tea. The waitress did. She returned with 2 new glasses and both Catherine and I “tested” the new ice lemon tea. To Catherine’s dismay, the drink was now too sweet for her liking. She publicly displayed her unhappiness towards the waitress and now, with a heavier and more upset tone, she literally commanded that if the waitress didn’t bring her a new glass that tasted just right, she was going to lodge a complaint to the manager. The waitress’s face turned black. She very reluctantly apologised and took Catherine’s glass out. I left the room to go to the ladies and after coming out of the toilet, I overhead the waitress complaining to her colleague about my friend. The next thing i knew, i saw both the waitresses taking turns to spit into the new glass of ice lemon tea and stirring it. Afraid i would be seen, i hid behind the wall till i thought the coast was clear. by the time i had gotten back into the room, Catherine had already taken a big gulp out of the glass, a smug grin plastered onto her face.

Story Two:

Some classmates and I went on a 4D3N trip to kuala lumpur during the school holidays once. We had everything from the coach, hotel, sleeping arrangements and activities for each day and night planned out nicely, each of us handling one part of the trip preparation to ease the load of having just one person handle everything on her own. By the time we met in the early hours of the morning, we found out that Elaine, the one in charge of making the hotel arrangments, had forgot to print the hotel booking slip. All weary and tired from staying up the night before to pack our bags, we thought it’d be alright not having it printed out since the booking was already made. Truth was, none of us wanted to go through the hassle of cabbing back to her place just to print the booking slip and worse case scenario, missing the coach in the process of doing so. By the time we got to KL’s Hotel Grand Continental to check-in, we were told that our booking was not reflected in the system. We argued that we did and asked the receptionist to check again. He did and was very certain we did not make a booking. By then, we were becoming worried because we were in foreign land and we didn’t have enough money on us to get us enough rooms because the online booking system was cheaper than booking on the spot at the hotel. Feeling dejected and lost, we wandered around and ended up staying at a cheap, lousy motel for the rest of our trip. This hotel screw-up had totally ruined our trip. The moment we returned from our trip, we immediately made Elaine check her internet history records to get back to the hotel’s website to print out our booking so we could lodge a complaint to ease our anger. Turns out Elaine booked Melacca’s Hotel Grand Continental instead of KL’s. I was so close to strangling the life out of her.
